Local residents can visit the Macau Museum free of charge every day it is open from January 1, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement on Thursday.
The Macau Museum, located at the bottom of Fortress Hill, near the St Paul’s Ruins, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Mondays – but not public holidays.
Until Saturday, visitors to the Macau Museum pay 15 patacas each for admission, while the admission fee for student card holders is eight patacas. Admission is free for children aged 12 or below and seniors aged at least 65.
Currently, admission is free for all visitors on the 15th of every month. Local residents can visit the museum for free on Sundays.
The statement also said that the Macau Museum of Art (MAM) and the Taipa and Coloane History Museum will have free admission for all visitors from January 1.
Both museums are closed on Mondays with MAM also open on public holidays.
Currently, a visitor to each of these two museums pays five patacas for admission, while a student card holder pays two patacas. Admission is free for children aged 12 or below and 65 and plus seniors. Admission was free on Sundays for both museums.
