The Macau authorities are continuing their efforts to try to find where 237 residents from the Hubei province are in order to ascertain their health status and decide on the measures to be taken.
The number of residents and visitors from Hubei who were in Macau when special measures began to be implemented has been decreasing dramatically and since the 26th, no residents of the Chinese province have been allowed to enter Macau.
On Tuesday, 108 Hubei residents were prevented from entering Macau as they did not hold any medical certificate indicating that they are not affected by the virus.
Presently there are 237 Macau residents in the Hubei province, 105 of whom are in the city of Wuhan.
The influx of visitors to Macau has been dropping dramatically over the last days and on the 28th January, a 87% drop in tourist arrivals was recorded compared to the same period in 2019.
The Health Services also announced that in the past 24 hours there have been no more cases of patients infected with coronavirus in Macau. So far, there have been 7 confirmed cases. The authorities say that Macau has 114 suspected cases with 19 currently in isolation because they were in contact with patients affected by the virus.
In Hong Kong, 10 cases of the virus have already been detected in visitors from Hubei. In the Guangdong province, where Macau is located, 241 cases of the virus have been confirmed with no fatalities.
To date, 5,974 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across China with 132 deaths.
