A 29-year-old local man who received his first Sinopharm inactivated jab last week has been diagnosed with a rare blood disease.
A spokesman for the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre said the patient was suffering from a low level of the platelets which normally form clots to prevent or stop bleeding, called thrombocytopenia.
The man received his Covid-19 jab at a public health centre on Wednesday last week. On Friday, he came down with scattered small spots caused by bleeding underneath the skin on his lips and upper and lower limbs.
The man went to the Inner Harbour Health Centre for medical treatment yesterday morning, and was transferred to the emergency department of the Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre.
The man has been hospitalised and is in a stable condition, The Macau Post Daily reported.
The case has been classified as a serious post-vaccination adverse event and will be transferred to the Health Bureau’s special working group for further assessment.
