The “Golden Bus” shuttle service, that link Hong Kong to Macau via the bridge will be suspended from 6 a.m. Sunday, the bus operator announced Saturday.
The last bus will leave Hong Kong to Macau at 5 a.m Sunday.
No buses will travel between the Special Administrative Regions from Sunday until further announcement.
Car traffic across the bridge Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau will be allowed to continue but at a reduced timetable, while freight vehicles will continue 24/7.
Ferry services between Macau and Hong Kong have been suspended for weeks.
The Hong Kong government announced last week that all travellers that enter Hong Kong will be quarantined.
Meanwhile, the Macau government has confirmed the city’s 44th novel coronavirus (COVID-19) case.
According to a statement by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre Sunday, the case was confirmed Saturday.
The statement identified the male patient as a 52-year-old local resident who lives in the UK. He is the unemployed husband of the 40th patient and father of the 41st patient.
The man took Cathay Pacific flight CX250 (seat 22K) from London with five relatives on March 26 to Hong Kong where they arrived the following day, after which they went to Macau by special transport arranged by the Macau Tourism Crisis Management Office via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
Upon arrival in Macau, they were immediately transferred to the Golden Dragon Hotel for 14 days of quarantine and medical observation.
The man came down with a sore throat and cough on Thursday and a fever and pain throughout his body on Friday.
He tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday and has been transferred to the isolation ward of the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre.
The statement described his condition as “normal.”
