The Guia Circuit will spend the next 17 days being repaved in preparation for the 70th Macau Grand Prix (MGP) in November, the Macau Post Daily reports.
Sports Bureau (ID) President Pun Weng Kun made the announcement yesterday, noting that the repaving would be carried out in phases, during off-peak hours only. The bulk of the works have been timed to coincide with Macao’s summer holiday period.
However, Pun said that further road repairs would start on 17 September. These would take place at night and on Saturdays to avoid impacting traffic.

17 – 25 August – between President Hotel and Praça Flor de Lótus on Avenida da Amizade.
24 – 25 August – on Rua dos Pescadores and Fisherman’s Bend.
16 September – on Ramal dos Mouros.
18 – 19 September (at night) – on Avenida da Amizade around the reservoir.
23 September – on Melco Bend.
The August work will be carried out between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm on weekdays, and 10 am to 8pm on Saturdays.
At the press conference, Pun reaffirmed the Macau Grand Prix Organising Committee’s commitment to improving the Guia Circuit, and to keeping the track suitable for hosting high-level international events. He said that repaving was an annual maintenance issue, happening every August.
