Macao is to relax Covid-19 nucleic acid testing (NAT) for arrivals from Hong Kong, Taiwan and foreign countries undergoing a post-hotel-quarantine period after completing their seven-day hotel quarantine, starting tomorrow.
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre pointed out that currently, arrivals from Hong Kong and Taiwan or foreign countries must undergo seven days of hotel quarantine, after which they must practise three days of self-health management, during which they will have a yellow Macao Health Code.
Currently, those with a yellow Macao Health Code are barred from entering certain premises and facilities in the city, using public transport, and entering mainland China from Macao.
The centre also noted that currently, after completing their three-day self-health management, the respective individuals must continue practising four days of self-health monitoring, during which their Macao Health Code will return to green, but they should avoid attending any activities or events involving crowd gatherings.
From tomorrow, the government will cancel the four-day self-health monitoring.
The centre pointed out that currently, those who have completed their seven-day hotel quarantine after arriving in Macao from Hong Kong, Taiwan or foreign countries must undergo five Covid-19 NATs, on the first, second, third, fifth and seventh day after completing the hotel quarantine period, meaning three tests during the three-day self-health management plus two tests during the four-day self-health monitoring.
With the cancellation of the four-day self-health monitoring, its two currently-required tests will be cancelled accordingly.
However from tomorrow arrivals from Hong Kong, Taiwan and foreign countries who have completed their seven-day hotel quarantine must undergo four Covid-19 nucleic acid tests, namely on the day they leave their quarantine hotel, as well as on the first, second and third day after completing the hotel quarantine period, The Macau Post Daily reported.
