A local woman was arrested on Thursday for trying to pass drugs to her husband who is quarantined at a hotel in Coloane, the Judiciary Police (PJ) have announced.

After receiving a tip-off, police put Lao, 32, under surveillance and stopped and searched the car she was driving. They found a quantity of drugs inside a suitcase that Lao, who claims to be unemployed, was planning to pass to her husband.

PJ officers also found a handbag containing drugs and drug paraphernalia, in Lao’s other car in her residential car park.

Police noted that 9.4 grammes of cannabis and four bottles of hash oil containing THC were found in the suitcase and handbag, with a street value of MOP 20,000.

Under questioning, Lao admitted that she had tried to provide the drugs to her husband who is quarantined at the hotel.

Two other people who were in Lao’s car at the time she was stopped were released without charge.

Lao tested negative for drugs, and she was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office on Friday morning, facing drug-trafficking charges, The Macau Post Daily reported.
