A 22-year-old local man has tested positive for Covid-19, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has announced.

According to the Centre, the new case is considered a close contact of the 21-year-old female university student who tested positive yesterday and has been classified as “related” to an imported case, her father, who returned from Portugal via Singapore on 29 October. The father tested weakly positive on Sunday.

The young man was put under medical observation yesterday and his nucleic acid test (NAT) results came back negative in the morning and afternoon. However, his NAT result today was positive and he was immediately sent to the Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane for medical isolation and treatment.

The Centre did not mention how the man is related to the female university student.
