In another step to digitise administrative procedures, Macao residents can now download medical certificates from their Macao One Account mobile apps.
Only certificates issued by the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre or the health bureau’s centres will be available for download.
Downloaded certificates will include QR codes that can be scanned to verify legitimacy.

The move follows the June launch of digital Macao ID cards – also on the Macao One Account – that allow residents to enter and exit the territory using electronic documents alone.
Digitalised medical and identification documents are not without controversy. Residents spoken to by Macao News have expressed concerns about barriers posed by limited digital literacy. Less technologically savvy older people can feel they are being left behind, without support from the government.
