A local man with a record of theft was arrested on Sunday for stealing five bottles of red wine from a supermarket worth more than MOP 1,250, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said at a regular press conference on Monday.
The jobless suspect surnamed Lou, 27, was arrested for three theft cases between 2015 and 2019 according to Lam.
According to Lam, PSP officers received a report on Sunday night about a theft case in a supermarket in Rua de Brás da Rosa. The security guard of the supermarket told the officers that the shop’s anti-theft detection alert went off when Lou was leaving the supermarket. He was stopped and searched, and five unpaid bottles of red wine were discovered in his backpack.
Under questioning, Lam said Lou admitted to stealing the wine “in a moment of greed”.
Lou was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) on Monday morning, facing a theft charge, according to Lam.
