Four more cases have been registered by local health authorities, one detected in Zhuhai and the rest related to Macao’s current cabbie cluster, which began when a 74-year-old local taxi driver tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced.

The Centre received a notification from Zhuhai’s health authorities yesterday about a 44-year-old mainland Chinese non-resident worker who lives in Zhuhai and works as a supervisor in the security office of Nova Taipa Garden Block 29.

The man’s nucleic acid test (NAT) results on 27 and 28 November were negative but, on 29 November, he tested positive for Covid-19 in Zhuhai, where he is now under medical isolation and treatment.

The other three cases related to the cabbie – who dined in two local restaurants also visited by the three – were detected under medical observation in Macao and are all classified as related to an imported case.

A 74-year-old male Macao resident, a retiree, went to Tong Kei restaurant for breakfast daily at around 7-8 am from 26-28 November. He has been under medical observation since Monday and his NAT results on that day and on Tuesday were negative, eventually testing positive yesterday. He is asymptomatic.

Another case involves a 54-year-old male Macao resident working as an airport security instructor, who went to Sang Kei Seafood Restaurant for dinner at around 7 pm on 27 November, meaning he shares a common track with the cabbie.

The airport worker was listed as a non-core close contact and was taken under medical observation from the afternoon of 29 November, on which day his NAT result was negative. He tested positive yesterday evening and has developed discomfort in his throat.

The last case is a 37-year-old female non-resident worker, who works at the Tong Kei restaurant located near Kiang Wu Hospital. She was listed as a non-core close contact and put under medical observation on Monday. Her NAT results on that day and Tuesday were negative. She eventually tested positive yesterday evening and has since developed a sore throat.

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre said the risk of community transmission caused by the new cases is low because they have been detected under control.

Meanwhile, as of this morning, Macao’s current Red Code Zones consist of:

– Edf. Kuan Wai on Rua do Almirante Costa Cabral 101-103

– Edf. Green Field on Rua de Afonso de Albuquerque 29-29A

– Edf. Tim Seng on Rua de Tomás Vieira 68M-68P, Travessa de Tomás Vieira 2

– Edf. Vang Son on Calçada das Verdades 12-12A

– Cerese building on Avenida do Coronel Mesquita 56A

– Edf. Tim Yee on Calçada Central de S. Lázaro 18-20B

Since 14 November, there have been 27 positive cases recorded in the city – 15 of which are related to the cabbie cluster – as well as two Covid-19 cases recorded in Zhuhai involving two workers who live in the neighbouring city but work in Macao.
