Residents of locked-down buildings flouting regulations have prompted the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) to warn them to cooperate with Covid-19 prevention and control work.

IAM staff found some people in Edifício San Mei On Bloco II, Edifício Lok Fu Garden, Edifício Son Lei and other locked-down buildings disobeying guidelines, leaving residential units without authorisation, walking in corridors without facemasks, disposing of domestic waste improperly and filching others’ “subsistence supplies”.

Staff emphasised that households are responsible for maintaining public order and environmental hygiene of buildings’ communal areas. They said that residents must not leave units without permission for activities and visiting others in buildings’ lobbies, corridors or staircases. 

Residents must also wrap domestic waste properly to avoid leakage and then discard it properly, as well as not to litter or place garbage outside doors too early. Moreover, miscellaneous objects such as unwanted furniture must not be discarded to avoid hindering the cleaners’ work, staff said.

The bureau collects domestic waste from each household’s door every evening from 6 pm to 8 pm, while cleaning and disinfection of the buildings’ communal areas are carried out simultaneously. 

The bureau pointed out that its subsistence team continues to provide support to people in locked-down buildings, while source-tracing of vegetables and frozen meat food packs are conducted to monitor their quality.

Food packs delivered to locked-down households comprise fresh vegetables that arrived in the city that day, while each pack of frozen meat has the supplier’s name to enable source-tracing and monitoring of food safety and quality.

Canopy tents are set up at the support stations outside each locked-down building to ensure the hygiene and safety of the food packs’ delivery. The tents have freezers for temporarily storing frozen meat. 

In related news, the bureau reminded the public that certain items such as alcoholic beverages and leisure drinks, perishable food, takeaways, bottled water for water coolers, electrical appliances, as well as refrigerated food are not to be delivered, The Macau Post Daily reported.
