The business outlets of all 31 banks and 12 insurance institutions in Macao will continue to be closed from 27 June to 1 July (Monday to Friday), announced the Monetary Authority of Macao.

Citizens and merchants can contact relevant financial institutions if they need emergency services. Macao’s banks (with only 11 headquarters locally registered) muster around 6,000 employees.

Banks will set up hotlines during the suspension of services at branches to assist citizens and merchants in need of emergency services to call and handle urgent business including salary payments. Online banking, mobile banking, automated teller machines and other self-service channels will continue to operate normally, while the due date of local settlement, loan, credit card repayment, and time deposit due date will be postponed to the next business day.

During this time, insurance companies will ensure that renewal policies are effectively processed (such as deferred payment); if customers and businesses have urgent needs or inquiries, they can call their respective insurance companies during office hours.
