Two men, aged 56 and 63, with underlying medical conditions became the latest Covid-19-related deaths in Macao yesterday, while the city also recorded 97 new symptomatic cases, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced today.

The 56-year-old deceased, who had been vaccinated with three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, suffered from esophageal cancer, high blood pressure, epilepsy and other medical issues. His nucleic acid test (NAT) result was positive on 13 December.

A chest CT scan the next day showed he had developed pneumonia. His condition deteriorated on 18 December and he passed on the same day.

The second case was an unvaccinated diabetic 63-year-old man suffering from high blood pressure and tuberculosis. His rapid antigen test result on 17 December was positive. He suffered from cardiac and respiratory arrests in the evening of 18 December. He died soon after.

Macao has recorded a total of 13 fatalities related to Covid-19 and 1,524 symptomatic cases since early 2020.
