Twenty-five students and three teachers from 17 schools in Macao have tested positive for Covid-19, and schools have suspended face-to-face teaching for the 13 affected classes, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) announced last night.
The bureau has consulted the Health Bureau (SSM) and some leaders in the city’s education sector, including school representatives, and provided guidelines for school Covid-19 measures during Macao’s transition period.
The DSEDJ urged parents to arrange for their unvaccinated children to be inoculated as soon as possible, while students who have been vaccinated are advised to receive booster doses.
Meanwhile, starting today, visitors to Conde São Januário Hospital and public health centres will need to show a negative rapid antigen test (RAT) result taken within two hours prior to entering the premises as shown on their Macao Health Code and must wear KN95 masks at all times, the SSM announced yesterday.
People going to the hospital for emergencies will be asked to do a RAT on-site before being allowed to enter. The hospital continues to limit the number of people allowed to visit patients: only two per family group. Children under five years old are not recommended to visit the hospital.
