The Grand Lisboa casino and hotel is to get a renovation, with work starting this year. That’s according to SJM Resorts managing director Daisy Ho.

Speaking to media yesterday on the sidelines of an event to promote the Macao International Dragon Boat Races – which SJM sponsors – Ho said the project would take an estimated 24 months to complete.

She said the hotel’s restaurants as well as its guest rooms would be upgraded.

The news comes in the wake of SJM Holdings’ first quarter results. The group said its net gaming revenue in the first quarter of 2024 increased to HK$6.4 billion (US$818 million), compared to HK$3.5 billion (US$447 million) for the same period last year, or a rise of almost 60 percent.

Losses shrank to HK$74 million (US$9.4 million) compared to the comparable figure of HK$869 (US$111 million) million last year.

With its striking contours, the Grand Lisboa is an iconic presence on the Macao skyline. It offers over 400 rooms and suites and has a five-star rating in the Forbes Travel Guide.
