Several new flight routes are set to kick off in the first quarter of this year, connecting Macao to both Istanbul and Moscow, as well as a number of destinations within Asia.
China Southern Airlines will offer flights between the SAR and the Turkish and Russian cities, TDM reports, citing a statement from the Macau International Airport Company (often called by its Portuguese initials CAM).
AirAsia is planning to launch daily flights between Macao and Phnom Penh from March, while VietJet Air is lining up routes between Macao and both northern Vietnam’s Haiphong and the beach city Nha Trang.

Meanwhile, the airport expects to welcome around 110,000 arrivals across the five-day Lunar New Year holiday next month, according to TDM. Some 860 flights have been scheduled between 10 and 14 February to accommodate holiday travellers.
At a recent press conference, CAM said it expected the period to see a 74 percent recovery in passenger volume when compared to Lunar New Year in pre-pandemic 2019.
Earlier this month, CAM predicted it would see just 10 to 15 percent year-on-year growth in passenger volume in 2024, citing shortages in ground and flight staff.
