There are several wealthy individuals with links to gaming in Asia on this year’s Forbes list of the world’s 2,640 billionaires.
Leading the pack at number 35 is Miriam Adelson, widow of Sheldon Adelson, the founder of Las Vegas Sands. Her wealth is estimated at $35 billion.
Galaxy’s Lui Che Woo is at number 128, with US$13.9 billion. Pansy Ho of MGM China is listed at number 787 with US$3.6 billion. Steve Wynn’s US$3.2 billion puts him at number 905 and SJM’s Angela Leong is number 1104 with US$2.7 billion. Melco’s Lawrence Ho comes in at 2259 with US$1.2 billion.

Forbes says that the number of billionaires around the globe has decreased from 2,668 in 2022. Market turbulence has seen their total wealth decline by $500 billion to $12.2 trillion, with nearly half the planet’s billionaires finding themselves poorer this year.
However, Lui saw his net worth increase from US$12.8 billion a year ago. Ho also saw her fortune increase from US$3.4 billion in 2022.
Macao’s casino operators suffered a combined loss of US$1.6 billion during the pandemic, according to Bloomberg.
