Angolan Minister of State Economic Coordination José de Lima Massano has reiterated angola’s desire to deepen business ties with China, according to reports.
The remarks were made as he chaired a trade meeting held Sunday in the Angolan capital, Luanda. Massano underlined how the now 40-year-long relationship between the two countries has resulted in new infrastructure throughout the southern African nation.
China’s commerce minister Weng Wentao agreed, noting that Chinese companies helped construct more than 2,800 km of railway and 20,000 km of roads, as well as over 100,000 public housing units, more than 100 schools and 50 hospitals.

Going forward, Weng said that “the most important thing is to foresee and plan the future of cooperation, especially in the area of food security.”
As of 2021, Angola ranked 97 out of 116 in the Global Hunger Index, with 1.58 million people experiencing acute food insecurity in the country’s southwest. While this is an improvement over previous years, food insecurity and malnutrition remain serious problems.
Massano assured the Chinese delegation that Angola is making efforts to address the issue and improve the business environment, as part of the nation’s drive to lure future investment across various sectors.
