Tafese Delelegn Abebe from Ethiopia wins 2019 Macao International Marathon

Tafese Delelegn Abebe from Ethiopia won today the male Macao Internacional Marathon with 02:12:53.

Ethiopian Tafese Delelegn Abebe won Sunday’s men’s category in the 2019 Macao International Marathon with 02:12:53. Kenyan Hosea Kipkemboi was second with 02:12:57, followed by Ethiopian Tadesse Assefa Zewede with 02:13:21.

In the women’s category, Kenyan Lucy Cheruiyot won the 2019 Macao International Marathon with the time of 02:31:17. Rodah Jepkorir Tanui, also from Kenya, was second with 02:31:23, followed by Un Ok Jo from North Korea with 02:31.44.

In the the half marathon, Kenyan John Muiruri Mburu won the race with 01:03:45, followed by Joseph Mwangi Ngare and Mathew Samperu both of whom are also from Kenya.

Samuel Varela Freire from Cabo Verde finished fourth, followed by Vitor Manuel dos Santos Oliveira from Portugal, Qi Bian and Sun Wang from China and Donaldo Gito Machava from Mozambique.

Teddy Cardozo from India was ninth and Kuan Un Iao from Macau was 10th.

The women’s half marathon was won by Esther Wambui Karimi from Kenya with 01:13.37, followed by Careen Cheptoeck with 01:15:36. Carla Gabriel de Jesus Martinho from Portugal was third, followed by Adelaide Machado from Angola, Zeferina Marinho Lundo from Mozambique, Alice Kabura Njoroge from Kenya and Djamila Correia Tavares from Sao Tomé and Principe. Yangyang Wu and San San Wong from Macau finished the race in 9th and 10th place with 01:30:21 and 01:34:59.

Portugal’s Rosa Mota won the Macau mini-marathon for the second consecutive year, in 19:31 minutes. Rosa Mota (61) also won the 2018 Macau mini-marathon.

946 athletes took part in the men’s category for the 2019 Macao International Marathon and 155 in the women’s category. The men’s half-marathon had 3221 participants and the women’s half-marathon had 547 runners.
