According to Macao Daily, which spoke with Song Xiaodong, vice president of marathon co-sponsor Nam Kwong Group, the number of Macao participants has increased significantly this year.

Last year’s edition of the marathon was postponed from 8 January to 26 February 2023 due to the pandemic. It attracted just 12,000 participants.

First run in 2018, the marathon is the first major sporting event to be held in Hengqin.
