Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said Monday that the government now expects the construction cost of its project to revamp the Grand Prix Museum in Zape to be 380 million patacas.

Senna Fernandes made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a public event at the headquarters of the Alliance for Common People Building Up Macau (API) in Areia Preta district.

The government said in 2016 that it was planning to turn the entire Tourism Activities Centre (CAT) in Zape into a completely revamped Grand Prix Museum, at a preliminary budget of around 300 million patacas.

Senna Fernandes said yesterday that after a bidding process, her office has finished assessing the submitted bids and has granted a construction company the project with a proposed construction cost of 380 million patacas.

She did not reveal the name of the company.

According to Senna Fernandes, the construction period proposed by the company is 328 days.

Senna Fernandes said her office now aimed for the project to be completed by the end of next year.

The Grand Prix (GP) is Macau’s top annual sporting event.
