The 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival will be held from July to August and promises “a series of intriguing activities” according to the Cultural Affairs Bureau (known by its Portuguese initials IC).
A highlight of performances in the first week is children’s play The Moon in a Pot by La Petita Malumaluga ensemble from Spain. Presented from 4 to 7 July, it combines music, dance, theatre and special effects
Another Spanish ensemble, Xirriquiteula Theatre, presents Laika on 13 and 14 July, using shadow play, puppets and film montage. August performances include a theatrical performance for babies, Sweet Dreams in the Woods, and family favourite Anne: The Musical.

Meanwhile the “Children’s Fun Book House,” a pop-up store, will be held during the weekends in July on the first floor of the Macao Cultural Centre, featuring picture books, books for teenagers, colouring books, and educational materials from more than 10 countries and regions, as well as a family reading area.
Over 20 art workshops will be held during the Macao International Children’s Arts Festival, offering parents and children various activities such as music, theatre, painting and dance. The programme includes “Musical Soul” workshops for teens.
