A local waiter was arrested last week for patting a 14-year-old local schoolgirl’s buttocks in Avenida de Horta e Costa last Monday, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Cheong Kam Fai said at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
The suspect surnamed Wong is in his fifties.
According to Cheong, a secondary school notified the police last week that one of its female pupils had been sexually harassed by a man who patted her buttocks last Monday at noon when she was walking in Avenida de Horta e Costa after school. The girl got scared and told her mother about the incident after she got home and later informed her school.
Thanks to CCTV footage, PJ officers identified Wong and arrested him last Friday night at his workplace in the northern district. Wong denied committing the crime and claimed that he only accidentally touched the girl’s backside. PJ officers are continuing their investigations, Cheong said.
Wong was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) last Saturday morning, facing a sexual harassment charge, according to Cheong.
