For the second day in a row, Macao recorded zero Covid-19 cases yesterday, with the city’s tally remaining stable at 1,821 as of midnight last night, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced.
As of 8 am today, the number of people under follow up also remains the same as yesterday, including the same number of close contacts, individuals with overlapping itineraries, secondary contacts, general contacts and accompanying persons.
In addition, as of 8 am this morning, a total of 456,865 samples – around 70 per cent of Macao’s population – have been collected in the 14th round of citywide nucleic acid testing (NAT) programme, which began at 8 am yesterday and will conclude at 7 pm today, with 440,835 samples testing negative and no positive batches of pooled samples so far.
All people in Macao are required to undergo the 14th Citywide NAT and no groups (including children aged 3 or under, the elderly and the disabled) are exempt from testing. Each person will receive 10 rapid antigen test (RAT) kits and 20 KN95 facemasks during the current citywide testing.
Individuals in Macao who remain untested after 7 pm today will be assigned a yellow health code and taken by the police to do the test at a designated venue, where they must wait until their tests return negative. Those refusing to take the test will be subject to 14-day mandatory medical observation at a designated venue, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.
Before going to the NAT centres, everyone must take a self-administered RAT and upload the result onto the Macao Health Code. Only those with negative RAT results will be allowed to enter the testing centres, while people whose RAT results are positive must contact 119, 120 or 2857 2222 immediately for assistance.
