Macao health officials announced late last night that one more local woman, aged 34, who lives in the same building – which was locked down yesterday – as the 43-year-old woman who tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday, has also come down with the novel coronavirus.

The latest case brings the current outbreak’s caseload to eight.

The 43-year-old woman tested positive for Covid-19 in the early hours of yesterday after the Macao Health Bureau carried out a nucleic acid test (NAT) on her.

Zhuhai health officials had earlier warned that she had visited an express courier outlet in the underground shopping centre next to the Gongbei checkpoint on Tuesday last week.

She crossed paths with a person who was later diagnosed with Covid-19 in Zhuhai and a 66-year-old Macao female resident who tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Zhuhai on Tuesday last week.

After the detection of the 43-year-old woman’s case, the Health Bureau carried out a NAT on her two sons, and both tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday morning, The Macau Post Daily reported.
