Leong Iek Hou, Coordinator of the Novel Coronavirus Infection Response Coordination Center said today that the Vietnamese and Nepalese communities will have to undergo four nucleic acid tests (NAT) – every other day – to “ensure that there is no Covid-19 community transmission.” Leong also said that civil construction, laundry and security workers, among others, will also need to be tested.
According to Macao’s statistics, more than 15,000 Vietnamese and around 2,000 Nepalese reside in Macao.
Leong Iek Hou did not reject the possibility of another city-wide NAT saying that it would depend on the results of these NATs that will start as soon as possible. This measure was taken after the discovery of several residents with Covid-19 linked to the Vietnamese and Nepalese communities and professional workers in Macao.
Relevant persons and their employers will receive an SMS with instructions on how to book a free NAT appointment under the “High Frequency Nucleic Acid Testing Program”.
As Typhoon No. 8 is hoisted today, the above-mentioned people can go to the Hospital Kiang Wu Emergency Room or the outpatient department of Macau University of Science and Technology Hospital for testing.
