Despite the city’s success in battling the epidemic, the danger of new cases still lurks, so businesses and residents must double down on precautions.

Macao will be putting itself in grave danger if residents flout basic health protection measures.

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre warned that some business operators have let their guard down by failing to check patrons’ Macao Health Code and temperatures.

A spokesman for the centre said: “Although the Covid-19 situation is stable in Macao where no case has been reported for a long time, the pandemic is still at a critical stage and cases are being reported in neighbouring regions. So Macao still faces a risk of new cases. Prevention measures must be strictly implemented.”

Residents with a yellow or red Macao Health Code are barred from entering certain premises. A green Macao Health Code is required for people to enter public administration offices, casinos, hotels and other private businesses, wrote the The Macau Daily Post.

Residents are encouraged to stick to Covid-19 prevention measures such as properly wearing a facemask, regularly washing their hands and practising social distancing.
