73rd and 74th Covid-19 cases confirmed in Macao

The 52-year-old mainland Chinese man and 40-year-old Vietnamese man work in the same place and both had previously tested negative for Covid-19.

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has confirmed the city’s 73rd and 74th Covid-19 cases. The 73rd case is a 52-year-old mainland Chinese man – a renovation worker – who lived and worked with the 72nd confirmed case. His place of residence has been confirmed as Edifício Son Lei in Bairro Iao Ho.

He took a NAT on the 26 and 30 September, with both test results coming back negative for Covid-19. After taking another NAT test today, his results were confirmed positive. The patient had been vaccinated with two doses of the Sinopharm inactivated vaccine on 3 July and 3 August 2021.

The 74th case is a 40-year-old Vietnamese man who worked in the same place as cases 72nd and 73rd. He took a NAT on the 25 September which was confirmed negative for Covid-19. Upon taking a new NAT today, his results were shown as positive. The patient had been vaccinated with one dose of the Sinopharm inactivated vaccine on 15 September.

The investigation of the source of infection is still ongoing.

The centre stated that the patients have shown no symptoms of discomfort and have been transferred to the Public Health Clinical Centre for further diagnosis and treatment.
