The Islands District Medical Complex – formerly known as the Islands Healthcare Complex – starts recruiting its first tranche of local staffers today, TDM reports.
Ninety vacancies have been listed, including for general practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and radiologists. Only Macao residents are eligible to apply, and the deadline is 10 November.
Staff regulations for the new hospital, located in Cotai, were published in the Official Gazette on Monday. The salary table indicates that top-level doctors will earn up to 104,650 patacas per month, while entry-level doctors will be paid at least 31,850 patacas. Nurses’ salaries range between 45,500 and 70,525 patacas.

The new hospital, which will be co-administered by the Peking Union Medical Hospital, cost over 10 billion patacas to build. A sum of 13 billion patacas has also been budgeted for medical equipment.
In early September, the government said it needed to recruit 400 health workers for phase one of the complex’s operations – set to kick off by the end of the year. Staff at the public-private partnership hospital will be employed under labour laws for the private sector.
Phase two consists of a 15-storey rehabilitation hospital, which is yet to be built.
