Christmas Eve was a boon for visitor arrivals, with more than 120,000 people crossing through Macao’s border checkpoints to experience the SAR’s famously festive ambience, TDM reports.
The Border Gate was the busiest this Christmas, welcoming more than 40,000 visitors, closely followed by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge checkpoint with over 37,000 visitors.
An online ticketing and website malfunction on Sunday morning was bad timing for TurboJET, as many people heading to Macao would have travelled by ferry.

The ferry operator told media it switched to a manual ticketing system until emergency repairs were carried out that same day.
Visitors arrivals for November, meanwhile, came in at 2,583,597 – a 6.3 percent month-on-month drop, according to the latest figures from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Nearly 69 percent travelled from the mainland. More than 23 percent came from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Daily arrivals have averaged around 76,000 across 2023.
