Macao played host to the 2025 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (GMBPF) from 24 to 27 July, an event jointly organised by the Macao’s Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (known by the Portuguese abbreviation IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province.

The fair, which served as a significant platform for economic and trade collaboration within the Greater Bay Area (GBA), saw the signing of multiple co-operation documents and agreements, demonstrating a concerted effort to deepen regional integration and expand market reach.

The opening day witnessed the signing of three key co-operation documents between economic and trade investment departments and business associations from Guangdong and Macao. These agreements primarily focused on promoting joint investment activities within the GBA, supporting enterprises from both regions in exploring overseas markets, and strengthening the co-ordinated development of industries.

A notable outcome was the establishment of a Macao Enterprise Service Station in Jiangmen, designed to facilitate Macao enterprises’ access to western Guangdong, thereby strengthening their participation in GBA development through a regular investment promotion liaison mechanism.

Another significant feature of the GMBPF was its dedicated business matching sessions, which focused on trending industries. A total of 389 sessions were arranged, and 23 business agreements were signed, encompassing various sectors.

Continuing its multi-location model, the GMBPF included a series of professional forums held concurrently in Macao and Hengqin. In Macao, the 2025 Silver Economy and Smart Healthcare Forum attracted 85 participants. Concurrently, the Forum on Economic and Trade Co-operation and Cultural Exchange with Belt and Road Countries was attended by 60 trade visitors. In Hengqin, the Dialogue on Silver Economy and Innovation in Greater Health gathered 103 industry experts and corporate representatives.

A Seminar on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Enterprise Incorporation and Registration Policies was also held on 25 July, jointly organised by IPIM and the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation. The seminar, which attracted nearly 80 representatives from Macao enterprises, aimed to provide local businesses with a deeper understanding of relevant policies and processes for business registration within the GBA.

The GMBPF also provided a platform for promoting the synergy of the GBA and opening up business opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). IPIM President Che Weng Keong stated that the fair served as a channel for GBA enterprises to “go global and bring in investment,” and for products from Portuguese-speaking countries to enter the GBA, while also expanding economic and trade exchanges with BRI countries.

This year’s Belt and Road Products Zone featured enterprises from Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Thailand. Notably, Singaporean enterprises participated for the first time, commemorating the 35th anniversary of China-Singapore diplomatic relations.

The fair attracted 1,829 professional buyers, with over 13 industry associations and 292 procurement representatives participating in guided buyer tours. It was also open to the public with free admission from 25 to 27 July, offering special discounts on branded products, gifts, and lucky draws.
