Macau International Airport welcomed over 76,000 passengers during Chinese New Year from 22-29 January, an 80 per cent surge compared with last year’s holiday.
Flight movements increased by 47 per cent to 620, Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) said. There are currently 20 routes connecting Macao to destinations in mainland China such as Beijing, Changzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Nanning, Nantong, Qingdao and Shanghai.

In January, 11 airlines were operating from the airport: Air Macau, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, EVA Air, Juneyao Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Scoot Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Spring Airlines, Starlux Airlines and Xiamen Airlines
Other airlines such as Air Asia, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Philippine Airlines will resume flights from and to Macao “very soon”, according to CAM.
The airport also staged various CNY-themed activities such as handing out “good fortune” bags and festive performances, The Macau Post Daily reported.
