Senior Executive Office Manager (Full-time)

Location: Macao

In our fast-growing startup, we’re looking for a proactive and highly efficient individual to merge the roles of an Executive Assistant and Office Manager. Your role will encompass scheduling, communications, and office oversight, including budgeting and operations. The ideal candidate is ambitious, eager to learn and exceptionally organised. Scope of role:

  • Manage executive’s calendar, including scheduling meetings and appointments
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communication
  • Keep CRM system and office mailing list up to date
  • Prepare reports, presentations and data, as well as maintain files and records
  • Plan and arrange travel itineraries and accommodations
  • Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Organise office and personnel operations, procedures and resources to ensure organisational effectiveness and efficiency
  • Manage office supply inventory and reorder supplies as needed
  • Assist with budget preparation and process office expenditures, from general operating expenses to staff expense claims
  • Develop and implement office policies and systems (SOPs)
  • Maintain the office condition and arrange necessary repairs or maintenance
  • Ensure that computers, printers, and other equipment are functioning properly and coordinating any necessary repairs or upgrades
  • Plan and oversee office events, meetings and staff engagements
  • Conduct research and manage projects as directed by the executive
  • Facilitate internal communication and promote a positive work environment

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Fluent in English, Cantonese and/or Mandarin
  • Efficient with strong time management skills
  • Discretion and trustworthiness
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Tech-savvy and experience with database management programs
  • Basic design skills and keen eye for aesthetics
  • A strong interest for innovation and learning

Social Media Editor (full-time position)

Location: Macao office or remote in an East Asian time zone

Macao News is the leading English-language digital media platform in Macao and the digital heartbeat of the city. We are seeking a highly creative and enthusiastic Social Media Editor to lead our social media platforms and help us tell the stories that matter. 

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for finding and enlarging audiences for our content, promoting and amplifying our stories in places where they make the most impact, as well as helping to create original content that resonates with our audience.

The job involves:

  • Collaborating with editors to pitch and develop innovative, imaginative and sophisticated ideas for original and platform-native content that engages our audiences on social platforms
  • Pitching story ideas that capitalise on search, news, and social media trends
  • Distilling our articles into snappy, succinct, intelligent social media that aligns with our brand
  • Developing a content strategy and calendar for Macao News’ social media accounts, ensuring consistent posting
  • Handling the day-to-day operations of our social media accounts, including posting, scheduling, writing copy, monitoring and responding to comments and messages
  • Collaborating with editors to curate and make the best of our “evergreen” journalism from across our verticals
  • Supporting various special projects across editorial, marketing, client work and communications

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English and Chinese (written and spoken)
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with impeccable attention to detail
  • At least 3 years experience in social media management and content creation
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or related programmes
  • Strong understanding of analytics and social media trends across platforms
  • Proactive, able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Pre-existing knowledge of Macao and its cultural scene

Simultaneous interpreter and translator (freelance, retainer) 

Location: Macao

Macao News is looking for English-Chinese simultaneous interpreters and translators that we can work with on an as-required, freelance basis.

Applicants will be responsible for supporting our journalists during Chinese-language interviews, transcribing interviews and other ad-hoc translations. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ of translation experience
  • University degree in translation, interpreting or similar field
  • Native Cantonese and Mandarin speaker
  • Fluent in English
  • Attention to detail
  • Accurate, collaborative, reliable
  • On a flexible schedule
  • Able to turn work around quickly according to publishing deadlines
