The tenth confirmed coronavirus infection has just been announced by the Government Information Bureau (GCS).
It’s the third Macau resident infected with the virus. The other seven cases are imported from interior China.
The 57-year-old Macau male resident had visited Guangzhou on the 25th of January, travelling back to Macau on the same day. From the 26th of January onward, he developed symptoms such as a runny nose, cough and fever.
He went to Kiangwu Hospital on Monday. He was transferred to Conde S. Januário Hospital Tuesday morning where he tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He has now been moved to the isolation ward.
At present, the patient’s condition is average, and the Health Bureau’s (SSM) Disease Prevention and Control team is now conducting a follow-up investigation of the patient’s epidemiological history and close contacts.
In response to this latest novel coronavirus case, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) immediately coordinated a cleaning franchise company to clean and disinfect surrounding areas nearby, such as public spaces, streets, the entrance lobby of the building, elevators, corridors and staircases to reduce the spread of the infectious disease.
