Chief Executive Electoral Affairs Commission President Song Man Lei said Tuesday that the nomination period for chief executive candidates has been set from July 8 to July 23.
Song spoke to reporters after a regular meeting of the commission at the Public Administration Building in Rua do Campo.
The commission distributed a timetable to reporters for the election of the 5th Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) during the press briefing.
Song noted that according to the Chief Executive Election Law, each candidate must garner at least 66 votes from the Chief Executive Election Committee in order to be able to run in the election.
According to the timetable, the date of the election for chief executive has been set for August 25. By law, all elections in Macau must be held on a Sunday.
According to the timetable, the periods for obtaining the nomination form, submitting the form and nominating the chief executive candidate or candidates have been set from July 8 to July 23.

Song said that anyone interested in running for Macau’s top post could collect and submit the nomination form by him or herself or by a designated representative.
According to the timetable, the commission will run an “admissibility” verification process for all the proposed candidates on July 29, the outcome of which will be announced on the following day.
Based on the timetable, the locations of the polling stations will be announced by the Commission on July 31.
According to the timetable, the election campaign period will run from August 10 to August 23.
According to the timetable, the Ballot Tabulation Assembly (AAG) will start counting the ballots on August 25. The assembly will announce the election results on the same day.
According to the timetable, the Court of Final Appeal (TUI) will announce the final election results and publish them in the Official Gazette (BO) September 2.
So far four residents have said they are planning to run for chief executive including outgoing Legislative Assembly President Ho Iat Seng.
The chief executive must be a Chinese citizen aged at least 40 who has lived in Macau habitually for at least 20 consecutive years.(Macaunews)
