The Venetian Macao launched the city’s first “dual-cities” airport counter on Thursday, which offers travellers flight information, a limited check-in service and shuttle buses for Hong Kong and Zhuhai airports.

According to local media reports, travellers who have flights to catch from Hong Kong or Zhuhai can use the counter to complete the check-in process before proceeding to a shuttle bus to their chosen airport.

Baggage check-in service is currently unavailable at the counter, meaning that travellers will still need to drop their bags on arrival at the airport.

The counter is also only able to perform check-ins for a limited number of carriers, although there are plans to expand the offerings after the initial phase of operation.

“For the initial phase of the Hong Kong airport flights, we offer check-in for four airline companies – Cathay Pacific, Greater Bay Airlines, HK Express and Hong Kong Airlines” said Chen Wen Yu, a representative of the counter’s operator. “Later on, we will gradually expand our services to other airlines.”

Regarding Zhuhai services, Chen stated that the counter had “upstream services” for most of the airlines operating at the mainland Chinese airport.

“It’s very convenient,” said one mainland tourist interviewed by TDM. “There’s no need to line up. It’s very convenient if you don’t have any check-in luggage. There’s no need to transfer to other transportation en route.”

Located near the main entrance of the Venetian, the counter operates between 8 am and 6 pm. Shuttle buses to the airports in Hong Kong and Zhuhai are priced at 280 patacas and 80 yuan respectively.
