Macao residents have been urged to use electronic means to apply for identification documents to avoid having to queue for tickets.

The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) made the request in response to the recent increase in applications for Macao ID cards and Macao Travel Documents.

According to the bureau, those with a permanent Macao ID card who are aged 18 or above can renew their IDs by using a self-service kiosk. The kiosks can be found on the first floor of China Plaza in Avenida de Praia Grande, DSI’s service area on the second floor of the Macao Government Services Centre in Areia Preta and the third floor of DSI’s service area in the Macao Government Services Centre in Taipa.

Permanent Macao ID card holders aged 25 or above on the latest issuance date of their ID card can renew their IDs by using 24-hour self-service kiosks.

The 24-hour self-service kiosks are located at the DSI’s electronic services area on the ground floor of the China Plaza, the Macao Government Services Centre (24-hour self-service area), the Macao Government Services Centre in Islands, the Islands District Public Services Centre – Seac Pai Van Station, DSI’s self-service station in Seac Pai Van and the government’s 24-hour self-service area in Ponte Negra.

Macao ID card holders aged 18 and up can use self-service kiosks or the Macao One Account to apply for Macao Travel Documents for themselves or on behalf of their children who are over five years old on the latest issuance date on their identity card.

Residents with no current plans to travel abroad are recommended to apply for the travel documents at a later time, The Macau Post Daily reported.
