Forum Macao will continue to create new working models, expand its areas of operation and make greater efforts to support the economic recovery of its members Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng has told Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng.

Ji said that the Forum Macao will also work to increase economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and will support the diversification of Macao’s economy.

Ho told Ji that “the pandemic situation has seriously damaged the world economy, which is why Macao needs to promote the diversification of the economy”.

“We hope that the Forum can enlarge on Macao’s unique advantages, as well as the opportunities opened up by the construction of the Deep Cooperation Zone between Guangdong and Macao in Hengqin, allowing local companies to play a greater role in the promotion of economic and commercial cooperation between Mainland China and the eight Portuguese-speaking countries.”.

Ji took over as Secretary-General on 10 January and has since met the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in Macao, Liu Xianfa, the consuls general of Angola and Mozambique, in Macao, and government officials in the tourism and economic sector.
