Part of a brick wall near the CEM headquarters collapsed during torrential rain in the early hours of Monday.

The seven-metre section was fenced off after the collapse at the junction of Rua dos Pescadores and Estrada de D. Maria II (known as Melco bend during the Macau Grand Prix), according to the Macau Post Daily.

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) recorded rainfall of over 60 millimetres at its monitoring station on Big Taipa Hill between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Monday.

The rain began to slacken off after 10 a.m.. The weather station recorded accumulated rainfall of over 160 millimetres from midnight to 10 a.m., according to the bureau’s website.

The bureau issued the rain storm warning at 3:30 a.m. on Monday and removed it at 10:15 a.m.

The torrential rain caused minor flooding at a number of locations on the peninsula, as well as in Taipa, Cotai and Coloane.

Macau was affected by severe flooding when Typhoon Hato hit the city last month, killing 10 and injuring 244.
