Signal No. 3 hoisted as tropical cyclone approaches

The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) hoisted Signal No. 3 at 3:30 pm on Tuesday as the tropical cyclone approaches and will remain in effect for a period of time.

Currently, the yellow storm surge warning is still in force.

Local winds are expected to strengthen. The tropical cyclone “Higos” is now located about 290 km southeast of Macao and is moving towards the western coast of Guangdong province.

According to the SMG website, “the winds over the bridges are expected to be strong and gusty, drivers are advised to pay attention to traffic safety. Motorcyclists should travel between Macao Peninsula and Taipa Island through motorcycle lane on Sai Van Bridge.”
