The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a call on Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) that a 16-year-old boy was found dead on the balcony of a residential flat in Rua de Bragança in Taipa and requested PJ officers be sent to the scene to investigate, according to a message from PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon.
According to the message, the boy’s mother found him lying on a chair with no response at about 9 a.m. He was sat on the chair, with his head and feet touching the floor. His mother immediately called the police for help. The boy was certified dead after the firefighters arrived.
A preliminary examination found livor mortis on the stiff body, i.e. bluish-purple discoloration under the skin, as well as vomit in his mouth, according to the message.
The boy, surnamed Campbell, was an Australian citizen. The case has been preliminarily classified as ‘dead body found’. A forensic examination will be carried out and the case has been referred to the PJ Investigation section for follow-up, Leng’s message pointed out.
An earlier message by the Public Security Police’s (PSP) message described the case as suspected suicide in a flat of Fai Yuen Building of Kinglight Garden in Rua de Bragança Street in Taipa.
70-year-old man ‘falls’ from building
The Judiciary Police received a report from the Public Security Police (PSP) and the public Conde S. Januário Hospital Centre at 8 a.m. on Saturday about a man suspected of having fallen from a height onto the platform garden of a housing estate in Avenida de Lok Koi in Coloane. The man was rushed to the hospital where doctors were unable to save his life, according to message by Leng on Saturday morning.
According to a PJ investigation, the man’s wife received a call on Friday around 10 p.m. from their daughter, who lives in the mainland, when she was at work, indicating that her father appeared to be planning to commit suicide because he didn’t feel well. The wife immediately called their son who right away went to the flat where his father lived but was unable to find him. Later, the man was found lying on the platform, the message said.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man “fell” from the balcony of the flat onto the platform, damaging part of a steel frame.
According to a preliminary examination of the body, the injuries were caused by falling from a height.
The 70-year-old deceased man was a local resident surnamed Chan.
The case was initially classified as ‘dead body found’. A forensic examination will be carried out and the case has been referred to the PJ Investigation section for follow-up, according to Leng’s message.
