State-owned Nam Kwong Commercial and Industrial Union has donated 4,000 litres of disinfectant alcohol to the Macau government.

According to a statement by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS), Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong received the liquid on behalf of the government on Saturday from Nam Kwong Group President Fu Jianguo.

According to the statement, the 4,000 litres equal about 3.4 tonnes.

The statement pointed out that as the government has bought 7 tonnes of disinfectant alcohol before, the current amount of disinfectant alcohol in Macau is “sufficient” to fight the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic.

The government also thanked Nam Kong Group for helping the government acquire a large quantity of other epidemic prevention materials before and after last month’s Chinese New Year, such as facemasks.

Nam Kwong is the only state-owned enterprise based in Macau. It is Macau’s main trading company. The company is overseen by the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing.
