Meteorological Bureau Director Fong Soi Kun resigns after typhoon Hato hits Macau.

Macau Chief Executive, Chui Sai On, said that the Director of Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, Fong Soi Kun, resigned a day after Macau was hammered by typhoon Hato.

The announcement was made during a press conference with the Chief Executive, Secretaries and directors of services to discuss clean-up, relief and reconstruction efforts.

According to the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Sonia Chan, Fong Soi Kun “will retire after 30 years of public service”.

According to official sources, typhoon Hato has killed 8 people so far and has injured more than one hundred people.
