A man died after jumping from a pedestrian bridge at a Cotai hotel on Monday night.

The Judiciary Police (PJ) said that the 49-year-old man, surnamed Li, was from mainland China.

The PJ were notified by the Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre and the Public Security Police at 1 am on Monday that a man, who had “fallen” from a pedestrian bridge, had been certified dead upon arrival at the hospital.

PJ officers later retrieved a handbag and phone left on the bridge and suspected that they were the victim’s belongings.

No suspicious injuries were found on the victim. The exact cause of death could only be confirmed by forensic examination, police said.

The case has preliminarily been classified as a dead-body-found case, The Macau Post Daily reported.
