A Macau resident in his second year at university in Taiwan died on Monday after “falling” from his 11th floor rented flat, Taiwan media reported.

According to ETtoday’s news report, the 20-year-old Macau resident, surnamed Wu, was a student of Feng Chia University in Taichung.

According to the Macau Post Daily, the report said that Wu “fell” from the building at around noon and was certified dead at 1 p.m. by a hospital. The report said that the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) had immediately notified Wu’s mother and elder brother in Macau and assisted them in flying to Taiwan last night.

The news outlet said that Wu had been in an argument with his girlfriend from another university because they hadn’t seen each other for some time. Wu sent a message to his girlfriend but she did not read it. He then sent her a photo which he took looking down from the flat, followed by a “goodbye” message, after which “the accident of falling from the building took place”, the report said.

The news outlet said that the university was looking into the reason behind the “fall”.
