The Macau government confirmed tonight the city’s 40th and 41st novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, both involving local residents who returned from the UK.
According to a statement by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, the 40th patient is a 47-year-old local homemaker. The 41st patient is a 20-year-old local man studying in Great Britain. He is the son of the 40th patient.
On Thursday, both took Cathay Pacific flight CX250 (seats 22A and 22G) from London to Hong Kong, where they arrived in the afternoon of the following day.
On Friday night, both arrived in Macau with the help of the Macau Tourism Crisis Management Office. Upon arrival here both were transferred from the Macau checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge to the Royal Dragon Hotel for quarantine and medical observation. Both tested positive for the novel coronavirus today.
The statement described their condition as “normal.” Both are undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre.
Four people who accompanied them have been quarantined.
