The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement on Tuesday that the ferry link between Shekou in Shenzhen and Macao from both the Macao Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and the Taipa Ferry Terminal in Pac On resumes today.

In a separate DSAMA statement on Wednesday, the bureau said that this is the first ferry route from the two terminals to reopen since the suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic in February. The first Shenzhen-bound ferries depart at 11:30 am from the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and at 2:30 pm from the Taipa Ferry Terminal.

According to yesterday’s statement, officials from the Marine and Water Bureau, the Immigration Department, the Public Security Police (PSP) and Health Bureau (SSM) inspected the two terminals on Wednesday. The statement said that designated zones have been set up at the two terminals with staff to assist residents in converting their Macao Health Code to the Guangdong Health Code. The statement pointed out that there are social distancing notices in the waiting areas before boarding the ferry.

DSAMA Director Susana Wong Soi Man has asked the cleaning companies of the two terminals to increase the times of daily cleaning and disinfection and told security guards to follow government guidelines for COVID-19 prevention measures, which includes wearing a facemask, according to the statement.

The statement also said that in the first four days of the resumption only one ferry will depart from each terminal to Shekou per day, adding that starting from next Monday there will be two ferry trips a day from each terminal from Macao to Shekou, while starting from 21 September, the number of Shekou-bound ferry trips will be raised to four a day from each terminal. The statement said that people who want to enquire about the sailing schedules can contact the two ferry companies, TurboJET and Yuet Tung Shipping.
