The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center has asked citizens to participate in Chinese New Year banquets only if they are vaccinated against Covid-19.

Attendees “should complete the Covid-19 vaccination program as soon as possible, including the booster shot”, health authorities have said.

They have also recommended that at banquets with more than 400 people, participants should present a negative nucleic acid test, wear masks and social distance.

The suggestions come after the cities of Zhongshan and Zhuhai, in the Guangdong Province, and neighbouring Macao were declared low-risk areas.
