The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced tonight Macau’s 25th diagnosed novel coronavirus case. The 41-year-old male patient is an Indonesian non-resident Air Macau pilot, husband of Macau’s 14th case and father of the 17th case.
On March 17, he took flight CX718 (seat 47D) with his wife and son, departing from Jakarta, Indonesia, and heading to Hong Kong.
He underwent a nucleic acid test because he was classified as a “close contact”. The patient had a fever and his first two tests showed negative. Due to symptoms persisting, he was given a third test today and results showed positive for the novel coronavirus.
He is now in the isolation ward of the Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre for treatment, and his health status is considered normal.
Macau’s 25 confirmed COVID-19 cases includes 10 patients – seven tourists from Wuhan and three locals – who have been discharged from hospital. The other 15 cases, all of them imported, have been confirmed since last Sunday (March 15).
Macau’s first novel coronavirus case was registered on January 22.
